The collection contains more than 4000 photographs; in addition, there is a set of 92 slides, given by Dr G. C. Ainsworth, depicting the plates from the CLUSIUS CODEX of 1601, a batch of slides given by Professor Ingold showing Fomes fomentarius in Knole Park, and a set of slides given by Dr. Roger Kemp showing species of Coprinus grown in cultures. Representative photographs are regularly reproduced on the back cover of MYCOLOGIST.
To borrow slides, please give enough notice, i.e., at least two weeks before they are wanted; listing them alphabetically would be helpful. The loan is for a maximum of four weeks, although extensions can be negiotiated, and while there is no borrowing charge, postage should be refunded.
This is an active and well used collection and new and improved contributions are always most welcome. Slides are not available to be used for publication outside of the Society and the BMS must be first approached on all matters concerning copyright regulations.
The collection is now housed in the Mycology Section at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Please send all offers and correspondance to:
